Your meds may not be failing you. You might just need extra support.
This applies whether we’re talking GLP-1s, HRT, anxiety or depression medications, thyroid, blood pressure… you name it.
A lot of people are on GLP-1s right now. But how many are doing what we actually recommend to make the medication work safely, appropriately, and to its full efficacy? Honestly? Not enough.
When I started prescribing these medications three years ago, I advised my patients on the importance of fueling their bodies and adding strength training, but I wasn’t as diligent about following up on that part of the treatment plan as I am now.
I had patients injecting for a year, telling me they were doing all the right things: getting adequate protein and fiber, being mindful of what they were eating, moving their bodies the way we discussed. Then six months in, they were crushed with fatigue, their mood was in the toilet, and their hair was falling out.
When I dug into the details — tell me exactly what you’re eating, exactly how you’re moving — it became clear they weren’t doing the work. And because they were feeling so crappy, they were actually more motivated to follow up. That gave us the opportunity to provide more targeted lifestyle medicine coaching alongside monitoring and adjusting their doses. We also investigated other possible contributors to their symptoms.
About three months into the new plan, with the work now being done, their energy came back. Their mood improved. Their hair started growing back. They felt better overall. And they were still keeping the weight off.
I’m specifically talking about how to support you if you’re taking GLP-1 medications or supplements that act like GLP-1s here, but everything I’m sharing can be applied to other chronic conditions and treatments too: hormone therapy, anxiety, insulin resistance, thyroid disorders, high blood pressure, and more.
I work with all aspects of your health to get you feeling better and actually transforming your health, not just managing it. While it can take a full year to reach your goals, patients in my programs are seeing incredible improvements in just three to four months.
